8th Dec - Week 3 let the Fishing begin!

I know we talk about food a lot, but it is important and after some great omelettes made by Kirstie why would you not mention it (especially after living on weetbix for 3 weeks). Fully refuelled and ready for some exercise (and in need of a coffee) we rode the hills to the local coffee shop about 2.5km away.... Riley ran! It was very hilly and it was lots of fun, well worth it for the great coffee. After meeting some of Spike n Kristie’s friends it was time to head back, gear up and get fishing.... the boys were pumped! Weather looked beautiful; we launched the boat and started fishing at about 12.30pm. Riley caught the first squid, and then followed a total of 7 from the crew, not a bad haul, but no we weren’t having these for dinner, we were looking for Kingeys! Time to head out of the bay and hover around the island to see what was looking for live bait! Mike and Kirstie certainly know there stuff and it is great to be able to finally catch something!! Trolling around, Chris managed to reel in a 55 cm which we put back as the legal size is 65cm. This will probably be the biggest fish we catch during our entire trip! So it was a success on our part! With some fresh squid left and some fish in the freezer that Mike caught the other day, you guessed it, fish and squid for dinner. Aiden had left over chicken from last night..... As he just can’t do fish..... It’s the only thing he won’t eat! After dinner we nipped out for the Christmas Fireworks on Toronto foreshore. They were pretty impressive; we even managed to take a drive to ‘Hussies’ (coffee shop owner) to see his amazing Christmas light display. We were certainly spoilt and having a lovely time with good friends, it’s also nice to have been able to wash all the sheets and clothes. The simple things in life.
