7th Dec – Tree Tops on the way to Coal Point

This morning the sun was shining and the water was calm, the winds had died down and the clouds were all but gone. Following breakfast we spent the morning drying out from the night before and preparing to visit our friends up the coast at Coal Point Lake Macquarie. The boys went for a swim in the pool followed by a haircut before we packed up and headed for our Treetop Adventure in the Ourimbah National Park. We arrived to the treetop walk and geared up for the climb, this included a full harness and twin safety lines to attach ourselves to the course. In all there were 4 courses to be completed ranging from Blue thru to Black increasing in difficulty each time...... we will let the boys fill you in on the details! In short we loved it. 3 ½ hours of climbing, but the boys could not do the black level as you had to be 16+. We continued to Mike & Kirsty’s place on the bay at Coal Point, and arrived at mid afternoon to unpack for the next 4 days.....beds and fishing... paradise! Managed to squiz in before bed a ride in Mikes MGB around the block.

26th Jan – Australia Day!

Following an early night we were up by 5am, and pulled onto the road to Kalgoorlie by 530 heading west, the temp was 19 degrees and the sun was behind us which was a nice change compared to yesterday afternoon, we had 420km to travel to our final campsite at Boulder...... which has a pool! Arriving 11am we quickly set up and made our way to Hannan’s North Tourist Mine which used to be an original working mine. By now it was 35 degrees and getting hotter by the minute while checking out the mine trucks, old original buildings, gold pouring and first aid room. At the end of the tour we even did some gold panning, the boys each found a little fleck of gold. While panning the water it attracted 3 huge wasps collecting water (see photo). After an hour in the sun we were melting and hungry (now 12.45pm), so we went through Chicken Treat drive through for lunch. 1st Dec – Batemans Bay to Manley

Today we were up early and packed ready for the trip up the coast, along the way we had scheduled to stop in and visit the HARS Aviation Museum at Wollongong. Here there were aircraft from each era of aviation, military and civilian from F1-11 & Sabres thru to 747-400 it was an amazing display and the guided tour lasted for 3hrs, this is a must for all Aircraft enthusiasts young and old. Following a spot of lunch at the museum café we headed on for North Narrabeen, up the coast and thru Sydney at peak hour.....it was great! The trip was 107km, took 2hrs 15 minutes and we were stationary for 39 minutes! All in all not bad for crossing a major capital city at peak hour on a Friday afternoon! Once we arrived we got setup and hit the beach to check out the place, including the local surf pool across the road on the beachfront. 18th Dec – Spider, Lennox Heads, Surfing!

Back from our regular morning run/walk on the beach we had started our ritual “pack up” when Riley found a hitchhiker inside our car, a huge wolf spider had made house over night thinking this might be a great place to start a new life away from the elements! Thank goodness he was found before we set off. Excitement aside we said goodbye to a lovely local family who were our neighbours for the past 3 days, even had a son called Aiden. So Lennox here we come, with a quick stop at Ballina Bunnings on the way (including the Huge Prawn next door) Riley said he read it cost $400,000 to refurbish!, we arrived at our caravan site, and boy was it hot! The boys did there bits and disappeared to the camp kitchen to indulge in that massive thing called a LCD TV, whilst we finished setting up.
