14th Dec – Surfing and soaking up the sun

After awaking at 2am to the defining shrill of the previously mentioned cicada (always remember to move on a noisy neighbour when the opportunity arises!) we finally awoke at 8am and headed to the bakery for breakfast following a walk to the lookout and a run, we thought we would try snorkelling, but we just didn’t get organised earlier enough to beat the outgoing tide. However Aiden put on his fins and had a red hot go, he reckoned he’d done 5 laps of a 50mt pool in just 2 mins the current was so strong! So off to Scott’s Head for a Surf it was. The boys are getting better every day at boards and surfing, they are easily able to tackle the conditions for up to 2 hours at a time.....little buggers! With snaggers for lunch it was back in the water for round 2. Unfortunately the weather blew out at around 2.30pm so we headed back to camp for a dip in the pool and 3 million runs on the waterslide....no exaggeration! While they were getting in another 20 thousand million water slide steps, we headed for our lovely beach walk, aaahhh the serenity! While heading thru the bush to the beach we startled a goanna (Nobel prize for the inventor of underpants), funnily we heard a little fat kid earlier running for his life screaming like he had just seen Freddy Krueger!......we can only assume he had also seen it also LOL.....Good Times!
