11th Dec – Seafood feast

Time is flying... another beautiful start to the day, first cab off the rank was to check the crab pots we had put out the previous evening. We were all surprised to find another 2 huge mud crabs, one 185mm, and his claws were huge. We packed some more bait in the bag headed out for another fish, including some crab pot drops. Firstly we tried our luck with bait, but they just weren’t bitting. So we decided to go for our favourite, and hit the squid hot spots. Mum caught 4 of the 7 with Dad catching one (the largest). We then headed to the other side of the bridge to try our luck for a Kingy with our live bait. Unfortunately it just not meant to be so we enjoyed a ride back across to another spot to keep us out of the increasing wind. The wind was manageable and a good way to keep the temperature down J Trying another squid on the outrigger we managed to catch 1 Taylor. He was 50 cms so he was going to become bait! Soaking up the lovely company and beautiful scenery, we checked the crab pots and ended up with 4 blue swimmers. Another 7 hour ish day in the boat has disappeared! Time flys when you’re having fun and it was time to head home and clean the squid, cook the crabs and get dinner sorted! A feast for dinner the adults had lots of fun learning how to get to that crab meat and make cook the perfect squid ring.
