26th Nov - Surf Club and Questacon

We were up early again this morning and off to the local pool to join the Canberra Surf Club, Steve and his team were very welcoming and the boys had a blast, even though this is only their second season they were very well organised. The entire team made the boys feel welcome and everyone had a blast! Aiden has detailed all the events for the u/11s and as you will read he is pretty competitive, even though we told him to just go and have fun!! The Canberra team had more than enough water safety members which allowed us to just wander around and watch the boys in their events during the morning. After enjoying some lunch at the club and a few photos we hit the road to Questacon. Highlights included the Nitrogen show which Riley has all the details and the freefall drop. Even though you only free fall for about half a second, it takes some courage......many headed for the stairs instead of giving it a go! Aiden bought his first souvenir that was not eatable (all previous attempt to purchase were food)! After another huge day and with tied feet were signing off for tonight. We can hear the little taps of rain on the camper, time for popcorn.

26th Jan – Australia Day!

Following an early night we were up by 5am, and pulled onto the road to Kalgoorlie by 530 heading west, the temp was 19 degrees and the sun was behind us which was a nice change compared to yesterday afternoon, we had 420km to travel to our final campsite at Boulder...... which has a pool! Arriving 11am we quickly set up and made our way to Hannan’s North Tourist Mine which used to be an original working mine. By now it was 35 degrees and getting hotter by the minute while checking out the mine trucks, old original buildings, gold pouring and first aid room. At the end of the tour we even did some gold panning, the boys each found a little fleck of gold. While panning the water it attracted 3 huge wasps collecting water (see photo). After an hour in the sun we were melting and hungry (now 12.45pm), so we went through Chicken Treat drive through for lunch. 1st Dec – Batemans Bay to Manley

Today we were up early and packed ready for the trip up the coast, along the way we had scheduled to stop in and visit the HARS Aviation Museum at Wollongong. Here there were aircraft from each era of aviation, military and civilian from F1-11 & Sabres thru to 747-400 it was an amazing display and the guided tour lasted for 3hrs, this is a must for all Aircraft enthusiasts young and old. Following a spot of lunch at the museum café we headed on for North Narrabeen, up the coast and thru Sydney at peak hour.....it was great! The trip was 107km, took 2hrs 15 minutes and we were stationary for 39 minutes! All in all not bad for crossing a major capital city at peak hour on a Friday afternoon! Once we arrived we got setup and hit the beach to check out the place, including the local surf pool across the road on the beachfront. 18th Dec – Spider, Lennox Heads, Surfing!

Back from our regular morning run/walk on the beach we had started our ritual “pack up” when Riley found a hitchhiker inside our car, a huge wolf spider had made house over night thinking this might be a great place to start a new life away from the elements! Thank goodness he was found before we set off. Excitement aside we said goodbye to a lovely local family who were our neighbours for the past 3 days, even had a son called Aiden. So Lennox here we come, with a quick stop at Ballina Bunnings on the way (including the Huge Prawn next door) Riley said he read it cost $400,000 to refurbish!, we arrived at our caravan site, and boy was it hot! The boys did there bits and disappeared to the camp kitchen to indulge in that massive thing called a LCD TV, whilst we finished setting up.
